Built to power through anything, the 2020 Sierra Heavy Duty features a choice of an all-new 6.6L V-8 gas engine rated at an SAE-certified 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. of torque or an all-new segment-first Allison 10-speed automatic transmission paired with the mighty Duramax 6.6L V-8 turbo-diesel engine, producing an SAE-certified 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque.
Built with a larger frame and stronger propulsion system, the all-new Sierra Heavy Duty offers a maximum trailering rating of 35,000 pounds and a GCWR of 43,500 pounds.
“Trailering is the most important consideration for Sierra Heavy Duty customers, and the new features and technologies in the 2020 Sierra HD make it easier than ever to hitch a trailer and tow it confidently,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, vehicle chief engineer, Heavy Duty Trucks. “We’ve developed this new truck to offer the greatest trailering experience ever offered by GMC.”
Not only does the all-new heavy duty truck feature an available class-leading 15-unique camera views, including an industry-first transparent trailer view, but it also boasts a ProGrade Trailering System with an in-vehicle Trailering App, as well as other available trailer technology designed to permit access inside the trailer from your phone.
