NOT TOO SMALL AND NOT TOO BIG, BUICK OFFERS ENCORE GX
Buick recently debuted their latest SUV, the Buick Encore GX. Buick’s goal with the Encore GX is to not only offer the latest safety technologies and added features, but to also create an SUV that falls between the Buick Encore and Buick Enclave in size, offering SUV consumers a larger line-up of SUVs to select from.
“Premium SUV buyers are looking for features that fit their lifestyle priorities, and Buick is giving customers more segment choices with our new Encore GX,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global Buick and GMC. “As we look to the future of Buick, and customer demand trends, our four-SUV portfolio puts us in a strong competitive position across the most popular SUV segments.”
The Encore GX is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options and offers a standard 1.2L turbo engine or an available 1.3L turbo engine, delivering up to 155 horsepower and 174 ft.-lbs. of torque. The front-wheel drive model will come standard with a Continuously Variable Transmission, and the all-wheel drive option will come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive model will also come with a disable switch, so drivers can seamlessly switch between front-wheel drive for improved fuel efficiency and all-wheel drive for better traction.
The Encore GX offers a maximum cargo space of 94.3 cubic feet for drivers to enjoy. For a little more flexibility, the front passenger seat folds flat and the second row offers 40/60 folding. With the front passenger seat folded down, drivers are now able to store an 8 foot long object in their SUV.
Aldred added, “Filling the spot between the smaller Encore and the larger Envision and Enclave models, the Encore GX is another proof point that Buick is The Premium SUV Brand. Just as we did with the Enclave in 2008 and the Encore in 2013, we identified a growing market niche and moved quickly to introduce a new vehicle to fill it.”
When it comes to safety and connectivity features, the Encore GX offers a hefty lineup. The Buick Encore GX will offer standard across all trim levels Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam headlamps with automatically adjusting high/low beams. For those looking for a little more, the Encore GX will also offer available features such as Rear Park Assist, Head-Up Display, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and others. Buick drivers will also find the latest infotainment system available on the Buick Encore GX with connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android auto as well as available wireless charging and Bluetooth pairing.
